A married pilot has reportedly been banned from the skies after claims he assaulted three female crew members, who it is claimed later refused to fly with him in the cockpit.
The unnamed British Airways first officer, in his 50s, is believed to have been on a boozy night out between flights when he flew into a rage. He is said to have rowed with a lover in an earlier flight between Heathrow and South Africa.
Later, he was at a hotel in capital Johannesburg where hotel security had to escort him to his room after a confrontation with a cabin manager in flight lead and a first class cabin crew member, the Sun reported. They later refused to be on the same flight as the first officer.
A British Airways spokesman said: “A member of the flight crew has been suspended pending further investigation.”
Earlier this month a dad-of-three was left fuming when his highly-anticipated family holiday was turned into a “nightmare” when British Airways lost his bag – leaving him nearly £1,000 out of pocket. Dax Meadows, 43, paid more than £5,000 for a much-needed break to Tenerife with his three children in 2023 which he spent a year paying off before jetting to the Spanish island in June this year.
Dax told the Daily Mirror he and his three teenage children were looking forward to spending time away following his recent split from his ex-partner.
their 10-day stay was ruined when BA allegedly lost his bag, forcing him to fork out hundreds of pounds to replace lost items, and turning what was supposed to be a relaxing time into a “nightmare”. Dax said he got up for the flight to Gatwick at 8am and travelled with his children to the airport, checking in his luggage via the airport’s automatic check-in system.
When they reached the other end, he waited at the baggage claim with his family and watched his children’s cases roll through, but his was conspicuously absent. He said: “We were stood there, and stood there. My kids all got their cases and I was thinking ‘oh no’. I’ve not seen my case since.”
