Pune, September 19: In recognition of initiating India’s first industry-oriented technical managerial PG program in Lighting Technology and Management, the Indian Society of Lighting Engineers (ISLE), Pune Local Centre, honored Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, the Founder-President of MIT World Peace University, with the prestigious ‘Vishwashanti Prakash Deep Award.’

 

The award was presented to Dr. Karad during the three-day ‘Prakash 2024’ event held at the MIT-WPU campus in Kothrud, Pune. The event was jointly organized by ISLE, Pune Local Centre, and Maha Metro. The ceremony was graced by dignitaries such as V. Vasudevan, CMD of Vosscom, Vinod Agrawal, Director of Pune Metro, Atul Gadgil, Prakash Bhatjatya, Jayant Inamdar, Harsha Joshi, and Virendra Borade.

 

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad emphasized the importance of peace in enlightening the world, stating, “Peace is essential to bring the right light to the world. The principles of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and ‘Sat-Chit-Anand’ can ensure happiness and prosperity for every individual. In today’s era, the fusion of science and spirituality is crucial. As per Swami Vivekananda’s vision, India will emerge as a ‘Vishwaguru’ (world leader) in the 21st century and become a center of knowledge.”

 

CMD of Vosscom, Vasudevan, highlighted the significance of lighting technology, stating, “Lighting plays a pivotal role in shaping urban life. Modern lighting technologies can transform the infrastructure of cities, focusing on creating energy-efficient and safe public spaces with active citizen participation.”

 

The event commenced with a welcome speech by MIT-WPU Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Milind Pande.
