Suva: Indian President Droupadi Murmu is currently in Suva, the capital of Fiji, as part of the first leg of her three-nation tour. She was given a grand welcome by Fiji’s President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, who honored her with the Companion of the Order of Fiji, the highest civilian award in the country.

 

After receiving the award, President Murmu remarked that this honor symbolizes the deep friendship between India and Fiji. Following her visit to Fiji, Murmu will proceed to New Zealand and Timor-Leste.

 

 

Grand Welcome for President Murmu in Fiji

Upon her arrival in Fiji, President Droupadi Murmu was warmly welcomed at the airport by Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. Following her visit to Fiji, President Murmu will travel to New Zealand and Timor-Leste. This marks the first visit of an Indian head of state to both Fiji and Timor-Leste, and it is expected to further strengthen the historical ties between the countries.

 

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Provides Details

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated on Sunday that, in line with the Act East Policy, President Droupadi Murmu has embarked on a tour of three nations: Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste. During the first leg of her state visit, she will be in Fiji. This visit aims to reinforce the historic ties between the two nations. President Murmu is also scheduled to address the Fijian Parliament and interact with the Indian community in Fiji.
