Visakhapatnam: In a landmark ceremony at INS Chilka, 1,389 Agniveers, including 214 women, successfully completed 16 weeks of rigorous training and graduated from the Indian Navy. The Passing Out Parade (POP) of the fourth batch of Agniveers (01/24) was a unique post-sunset event, reviewed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi. Vice Admirals V Srinivas and Rajesh Pendharkar were also present.
The ceremony, attended by proud family members, veterans, and notable sports personality Omkar Singh, was a momentous occasion that marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Agniveers. Admiral Tripathi, in his address, urged the graduates to uphold the Navy’s core values and strive for technological excellence. Medals and trophies were awarded to top performers, with Vinay Maruti Kadam and Sanjana receiving the Chief of the Naval Staff Rolling Trophy and Gold Medal for Best Agniveer SSR and MR, respectively.
In a related event, Admiral Tripathi released the ‘CNS Course to Steer-2024’ document, which outlines a vision for a future-ready Indian Navy, focusing on maritime power and the role of naval personnel in nation-building. This release follows recent naval engagements, including INS Shalki’s visit to Sri Lanka and a partnership exercise by INS Tabar with the Russian Navy in St. Petersburg.
