
Juba, South Sudan: At least 19 people lost their lives on Wednesday when a Beechcraft 1900D aircraft carrying oil workers crashed 10 minutes after takeoff from the Unity oilfields in Rubkona County.
Details of the Crash
According to local officials, the aircraft, registered as 5X-RHB, was hired by the Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC) to transport oil workers. It had 21 people on board, including two pilots.
State Minister Bipal confirmed that among the deceased, 17 were South Sudanese nationals, while two were Chinese nationals.
Survivors in Critical Condition
Two passengers, a South Sudanese national and an Indian national, survived the crash but sustained critical injuries. They have been rushed to a hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, and further details are expected as rescue and recovery operations continue.
