
Denver– Passengers aboard an American Airlines Boeing 737-800 were forced to evacuate after one of the aircraft’s engines caught fire on the tarmac of Denver International Airport on Thursday evening.
The incident ýst before 6 p.m. Mountain Time, shortly after Flight 1006 made an emergency diversion to Denver due to reported engine vibrations. The flight had originally departed from Colorado Springs Airport and was en route to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
According to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the aircraft landed safely, but as it taxied to the gate, one of its engines ignited. Passengers were immediately evacuated via emergency slides.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to contain the fire. No injuries have been reported so far.
American Airlines has yet to provide further details on the cause of the engine malfunction. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to investigate the incident.
