
Pune: All units of Army Ordnance Corps (AOC) located in Southern Command celebrated their 250th Corps Day on 08 Apr 2025. AOC is responsible for providing ammunition, vehicles and stores support to the India Army. The Corps came into existence in 1775 as the ‘Board of Ordnance’ and was responsible for systematic distribution of weapons, ammunition and equipment to the British Army. Post its inception, the ‘Board of Ordnance’ underwent numerous changes, till it came to be known as the Indian Army Ordnance Corps in 1922. The prefix ‘Indian’ was dropped in 1950, once India became a Republic. The corps is now referred to as the ‘Army Ordnance Corps’ and is responsible for logistics support to the Indian Army. On this occasion, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, GOC-in-C, Southern Command felicitated all ranks & Def Civilians of the AOC and lauded their professionalism & commitment.
