Pune, April 26: In a significant milestone for India’s military education framework, 168 officers from the Indian Armed Forces, including seven officers from Sri Lanka, graduated from the prestigious Defence Services Technical Staff Course (DSTSC)-07 at the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT), Pune.
Designed for mid-career officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, DSTSC equips officers with the technological acumen and strategic insights needed for future command and staff roles. The graduation ceremony was graced by Lt General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, as the Chief Guest.
The event drew dignitaries from the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS), DIAT, IIT-Bombay, academia, and defence industries. In a moment of pride, the Chief Guest awarded the top-performing officers from each service: Major Akash Awasthi (Army), Comdt (JG) Sheikh Kasim (Navy), and Wing Commander Prince Arora (Air Force).
The prestigious Purple Trophy, instituted by HQ IDS to promote jointmanship, was awarded to an officer exemplifying inter-service synergy and technical excellence.
Addressing the graduating officers, Lt General Seth emphasized the growing importance of cutting-edge technologies in modern warfare. He urged officers to remain committed to continuous learning, especially in emerging and niche tech domains, to ensure the Armed Forces remain agile and future-ready.
He praised MILIT for its progressive curriculum that combines core technical education with training in emerging technologies, significantly enhancing the operational preparedness of future leaders.
The ceremony concluded with the General’s visit to the newly inaugurated Advanced AI-Integrated Drone Lab, where he lauded Rear Admiral Nelson D’Souza, NM, Commandant, MILIT, for leading the latest training infrastructure upgrades.
This successful graduation underscores MILIT’s pivotal role in shaping a technologically advanced military leadership, ready to meet the evolving challenges of 21st-century warfare.
