Pimpri-Chinchwad: The ‘Maharashtra Gaurav Rath Yatra’ organized by the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was warmly welcomed today in the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad. The yatra entered the city in the presence of Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Anna Bansode, MLA Atul Benke, and former MLA Vilas Lande.
On this occasion, prominent representatives of the 12 Balutedar and 18 Alutedar communities of Maharashtra participated in a ceremonial worship of the Gaurav Rath, using sacred water from the Mula, Mutha, Pavana, and Indrayani rivers for the ritual.
The communities showcased their traditional culture through attire and folk performances. Additionally, demonstrations of traditional sports such as Mallakhamb and Mardani Khel (warrior-style games) highlighted the valorous heritage of Maharashtra.
The Rath Yatra entered the city via Dapodi and was ceremonially welcomed in front of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial at Landewadi. The Gaurav Kalash was worshipped here with water from the rivers. The procession then continued its journey toward Mumbai via Pimpri, Kalewadi, and the Bhakti-Shakti route.
A large number of NCP office bearers and party workers participated in the event. The grand conclusion of the yatra is scheduled to take place in Mumbai tomorrow.
