Nothum-Bavigne, Luxembourg – A Luxembourg Air Rescue helicopter responding to a serious traffic accident struck a tree and was forced to make a hard landing on the road between Nothum and Bavigne.
The H145 D-3 model helicopter had no patient on board at the time of the incident. All four people aboard — including the pilot and medical personnel — escaped unharmed.
Authorities reported that the aircraft was en route to assist at the scene of a car accident when it clipped a tree, prompting the pilot to make an emergency landing on the roadway.
The initial accident involved a car attempting to overtake a truck. In the process, two oncoming vehicles swerved to avoid a collision and veered off the road, falling down a slope. A total of three people were injured in the crash and were transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Local emergency services and aviation safety authorities have launched investigations into both the traffic collision and the helicopter incident.
