Pune, 26 May 2025 — The French Section of the Department of Foreign Languages, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), proudly hosted French Open Day 2025 on Saturday, 24th May, offering an immersive introduction to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious centres for French language studies.
With over 60 years of academic excellence, the French Section has been a leading institution in teaching French as a foreign language, offering a seamless pathway from beginner-level courses to the Master’s programme. Alumni from the Section are now contributing across diverse professional fields worldwide.
The Open Day served as an invaluable platform for prospective students—including recent SSC and HSC graduates—and their parents to engage directly with the faculty, understand course structures, and receive hands-on assistance with the registration process. The French Section currently offers comprehensive training in French, from basic survival skills to advanced domain-specific modules in Teaching French, French Translation, and Commercial French. Uniquely, Level 3 and 4 courses provide direct access to the Master’s programme, which covers the four key domains of Literature, Translation, Pedagogy, and Linguistics, along with a strong research component.
A major highlight of the event was the presence of key collaborators:
Campus France provided expert guidance on higher education opportunities in France.
Goyal Publishers set up a dedicated book corner showcasing textbooks and French literature.
The Association of Friends of France presented details of their annual France Study Tour, which offers an immersive 18-day language and culture experience across three French cities.
The event witnessed a significant turnout, with numerous students registering on the spot. Participants left with specially curated goodies sponsored by Campus France, Goyal Publishers, and Association of Friends of France.
The French Section expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all its partners and sponsors for their continued support in making this event a grand success.
