
Nairobi [Kenya], June 10: The Indian High Commission in Kenya has expressed deep grief over the loss of five Indian nationals who died in a tragic road accident in Nyandarua County, Kenya.
The accident occurred on June 9 on the Ol Jororok–Nakuru Road, involving a tourist bus carrying 28 Indians who had travelled from Qatar for sightseeing. As per the Indian Mission in Qatar, the group was visiting Kenya when their bus met with the fatal mishap.
In a post on social media platform X, the Indian High Commission in Kenya said, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic road accident… in which five Indian nationals have lost their lives. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. We pray for the swift recovery of the injured.” The Commission also stated that its consular team is on the ground and working closely with local authorities to provide assistance. Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Doha shared that it is coordinating with Indian community groups in Qatar, including the ICC and ICBF. It extended condolences and is offering support to the affected families. The Embassy can be contacted at +974 55097295.
The Kerala Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that the group included Malayalis. A statement said the accident took place around 4:30 PM local time (7 PM IST) in Nyahururu, about 150 km from Nairobi.
Loka Kerala Sabha members, through Norka Roots, are coordinating efforts to shift the injured to hospitals in Nairobi. Some are currently being treated in Nyahururu, Nakuru, and Aga Khan hospitals. The bodies of the deceased are also being transported to Nairobi.
