Pokara: In a significant move to strengthen the enduring bond between India and Nepal, General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army, visited Nepal and held an engaging interaction with Indian Army veterans and Veer Naris in Pokhara.
During the visit, General Dwivedi enquired about their well-being, addressed their concerns, and reaffirmed the Indian Army’s steadfast commitment to their welfare. Highlighting India’s continued support, he shared that the Government of India has approved the expansion of the ECHS (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme) network in Nepal. This expansion includes the establishment of new polyclinics and empanelment of additional hospitals, ensuring enhanced healthcare services for Nepal-based veterans.
The Nepalese veterans expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support and care provided by the Indian Army, underscoring the deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect shared by the people of India and Nepal.
A poignant moment of the event was the reunion between General Dwivedi and Subedar Major & Honorary Captain Gopal Bahadur Thapa, a respected veteran from 18 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, the COAS’s own battalion.
This Ex-Servicemen Rally showcased the spirit of camaraderie, mutual respect, and the enduring partnership that binds India and Nepal beyond borders.
