Antalya, Turkey: An Azimuth Airlines Sukhoi Superjet 100 experienced an engine fire shortly after landing at Antalya Airport on Sunday night. All 79 passengers and crew on board were safely evacuated, and the fire was swiftly extinguished, according to local reports.
The incident occurred at 9:34 PM local time when the aircraft, identified as SU95 and registered as RA89085, landed in Antalya. The plane was on a flight from Sochi Airport, Russia.
In a statement, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure confirmed the incident, stating, “A fire broke out in the engine during landing. The pilots issued an emergency call, prompting immediate action.”
Emergency response teams at the airport quickly brought the situation under control, preventing any injuries or further damage.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and the airline has yet to release an official comment. Operations at Antalya Airport continued without disruption following the incident.
