The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that Cyclonic Storm FENGAL made landfall along the North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts near Puducherry late last night. The storm crossed between 10:30 PM and 11:30 PM IST on November 30, with wind speeds ranging from 70 to 80 kmph, gusting up to 90 kmph.
At 11:30 PM IST, FENGAL was centered over north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry near latitude 12.0°N and longitude 79.8°E, close to Puducherry.
The system is expected to continue moving west-southwestwards slowly and weaken into a deep depression over the next few hours. The IMD has urged residents in the affected regions to stay cautious and follow safety advisories.
