Pune: The inaugural edition of Exercise CINBAX, a joint tabletop exercise between the Indian Army and the Cambodian Army, commenced today at the Foreign Training Node in Pune. The exercise, scheduled from December 1 to December 8, 2024, marks a significant step in fostering military cooperation between the two nations.
Each country has deployed a contingent of 20 members for this exercise. The Cambodian Contingent Commander Col Hey and the Commander of Aundh Military Station Brigadier S. Taluja addressed the jawans present. The opening speech emphasized the importance of cooperation and skill-sharing in modern military operations.
CINBAX aims to simulate and strategize joint Counter-Terrorism (CT) operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. Key areas of focus include establishing a Joint Training Task Force for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, planning CT operations, and employing force multipliers in sub-conventional warfare scenarios. Other aspects such as information and cyber warfare, hybrid warfare, logistics, casualty management, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations will also be discussed.
The exercise will unfold in three phases:
1. Phase I: Orientation and preparation for CT operations in UN peacekeeping missions.
2. Phase II: Conduct of tabletop exercises to simulate real-world scenarios.
3. Phase III: Finalization of operational plans and a comprehensive review of the training outcomes.
A key highlight of the event will be the showcasing of Indian-origin weapons and equipment, underscoring the nation’s focus on ‘Atmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) and indigenous defense capabilities.
Exercise CINBAX aims to enhance trust, camaraderie, and interoperability between the Indian and Cambodian armies, ensuring improved joint operational efficiency in peacekeeping and CT missions.
