
Pune, December 13, 2024 – The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune, in collaboration with IEEE Pune Section, inaugurated the 7th IEEE International Conference – PUNECON-2024, centered on the theme “Sustainable Secure Digital Transformation”. The three-day event, held from December 13 to 15, brought together leading minds in technology, academia, and industry to discuss innovative solutions and sustainable practices in the digital realm.

The conference featured eight pivotal tracks:

2. Security, Privacy, Blockchain, and Quantum Technologies
3. Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Big Data Analytics
4. Robotics and Automation
5. 5G and Beyond Communications, Internet of Things

8. Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0
The event highlighted the importance of responsible technology adoption for secure and sustainable progress, aiming to bridge the gap between academia, industry, and policymakers.
Inaugural Ceremony and Keynote Speeches
The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Kamat emphasized the need for balancing digital transformation with environmental and security considerations.
Keynote addresses were delivered by esteemed Guests of Honour:
Mrs. S. Sundari Nanda, IPS, Special Secretary (Internal Security), Ministry of Home Affairs, who underscored the importance of structured implementation to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047.
Dr. Jitendra J. Jadhav, Director General, Aeronautical Development Agency, Bengaluru, highlighted the critical role of advanced digital data in aviation and next-generation AI-powered fighter jets.
The session was presided over by DIAT Vice Chancellor, Dr. BHVS Narayana Murthy, alongside Dr. Manisha Nene, HoD, CSE, DIAT, and Dr. Rajesh Ingle, Vice Chancellor of SSPU, Pune, as General Chairs.
Collaborations and Exhibitions
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between DIAT and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Delhi, fostering collaboration in education.
The conference also showcased innovative products from leading industrial participants, including Quantico Technologies, Kalyani Strategic Systems, Netweb Technology, and Siliconia Technologies.
Participation and Outcomes
With over 150 participants from across India, the event included paper presentations, panel discussions, and expert talks. Attendees explored sustainable and secure digital solutions presented by Indian and international experts.
Dr. Kamat expressed hope that the conference’s recommendations would pave the way for balanced technological adoption. The dignitaries encouraged active participation, emphasizing the significance of such forums in shaping India’s digital future.
