
New Delhi: In a significant boost to India-Moldova relations, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar and Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi signed a Declaration of Intent on Migration and Mobility in New Delhi. The agreement aims to enhance opportunities in investment, education, technology, and culture between the two nations.
Sharing details on social media, Jaishankar described the discussions with Popșoi as productive and focused on bilateral and multilateral cooperation. He stated, “Today’s signing of the declaration on a Migration and Mobility partnership will open new avenues for our partnership.”

Inauguration of Moldovan Embassy in India
Earlier in the day, Jaishankar and Popșoi jointly inaugurated the Embassy of Moldova in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in their diplomatic relationship established in 1992.
Speaking at the event, Jaishankar emphasized the deepening ties between the two countries. He expressed gratitude to Moldova for its support during Operation Ganga, when Moldovan authorities helped evacuate Indian students stranded during the Ukraine crisis. “India will never forget it,” he remarked.
Indian Students in Moldova: A Growing Connection
Jaishankar also highlighted the growing presence of Indian students in Moldova, calling the country a “second home” to about 2,000 Indian students. Addressing some of them present at the ceremony, he said, “You embody the partnership between our countries. You bridge cultures and forge lasting friendships.”
The EAM concluded his remarks by underscoring a shared vision for peace and cooperation. He described the establishment of the Moldovan Embassy as a new chapter in bilateral relations and expressed confidence that it would become a “beacon of friendship” between the two nations.
