
Pune: The Southern Command of the Indian Army is set to organize the iconic Army Day Parade 2025 in Pune on January 15, marking a historic first for the city. In the lead-up to this prestigious event, a ‘Know Your Army Mela’ will be held at the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) from January 3 to 5, 2025. Open to the public free of cost, the event aims to strengthen the bond between the Indian Army and citizens by showcasing the Army’s capabilities, heritage, and opportunities for aspiring youth.
Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, Army Commander of the Southern Command and recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, will inaugurate the event on January 3. The mela aligns with the Army Day 2025 theme, “Samarth Bharat – Saksham Sena”, reflecting a tribute to the Army’s valor and contributions to the nation.
Key Highlights of the ‘Know Your Army Mela 2025’:
Weapon and Equipment Display: Cutting-edge weaponry, vehicles, and equipment, including the T-90 Bhisma tank, K9-Vajra artillery, Pinaka rocket systems, Swathi Radar, and other indigenous innovations under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, will be on display.
Cultural Performances: Spectacular traditional dances and military band shows, including Gathka, Malakhamb, Kalarippayattu, Khukri Dance, and displays by the Pipe Band, Army dogs, horses, and Army aviation helicopters, will celebrate the Army’s diversity and heritage.
Interactive Zones: Dedicated stalls will provide information on career opportunities in the Indian Army, aiming to inspire the youth.
Photo Exhibition: A visual journey through the Army’s glorious history, valour, and sacrifices will be showcased.
The mela promises an engaging and inclusive experience, with events running daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Distinguished military leaders, state dignitaries, and other notable personalities will attend the event, enhancing its grandeur.
This grand celebration sets the stage for Army Day 2025, fostering awareness about the Indian Army’s legacy and encouraging a new generation to join its ranks.
