Mumbai: In a significant operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) uncovered a major drug racket involving consignments arriving from Thailand at Mumbai Airport. A parcel that arrived via Bangkok was found to contain 13 kilograms of hybrid strain cannabis. Further investigations revealed the involvement of an individual from Kolhapur, who has been arrested by the NCB.
A few days earlier, the Navi Mumbai Crime Branch conducted raids at 25 different locations across the city. During these operations, 13 Nigerian nationals were arrested. Among them, three individuals lacked valid identification documents and were taken into custody. The police seized drugs worth ₹12 crore from these Nigerian nationals.
In the run-up to the New Year, the NCB and police have intensified their crackdown on drug-related activities across the state. The primary objective of these actions is to prevent the youth from falling into the trap of drug addiction and dismantle the drug trafficking networks.
The NCB has urged citizens to refrain from buying or selling drugs and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police. Security agencies are fully prepared to ensure that no untoward incidents occur during New Year celebrations.
