
New Delhi: Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra assumed command of the Indian Air Force’s prestigious Western Air Command today. A decorated officer with an illustrious career, Air Marshal Mishra was commissioned into the IAF as a fighter pilot in December 1986.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Pune, he further honed his skills at the Air Force Test Pilots School, Bangalore, the Air Command and Staff College, USA, and the Royal College of Defence Studies, UK.
Known for his exceptional expertise, Air Marshal Mishra is a Fighter Combat Leader and an experimental Test Pilot with over 3,000 flying hours under his belt. His vast experience and leadership are expected to further bolster the operational readiness and capabilities of the Western Air Command, one of the IAF’s most critical formations.
The Western Air Command plays a pivotal role in safeguarding India’s airspace and borders in the northern and western regions. Air Marshal Mishra’s appointment is seen as a significant step in strengthening the strategic objectives of the Indian Air Force.
