Pune: Incidents of sexual harassment in the leading companies of the country have increased by 40% in the fiscal year 2024. This trend is being seen as a significant change towards corporate transparency.

 

In FY 2024, 268 more incidents of sexual harassment were reported compared to the previous year, marking a 40.4% rise. A total of 932 complaints were registered across the 30 companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), compared to 664 in the previous year. The majority of these complaints were from the banking and technology sectors.

 

Some key statistics include:

– 932 complaints were registered across 30 companies listed on the BSE.

– In FY 2023, 664 complaints were registered in these companies.

-97% of companies are unaware of the sexual harassment laws.

– 36% of Indian companies do not comply with sexual harassment laws.

– 25% of international companies do not comply with these laws.

– 24% of women are currently employed in these companies.

 

Here is a breakdown of the increase in complaints among some of the leading companies:

 

– ICICI Bank: 133 (up from 43)

– TCS: 110 (up from 49)

– Infosys: 98 (up from 78)

– Tech Mahindra: 93 (up from 74)

– HDFC Bank: 77 (up from 68)

– Axis Bank: 36 (up from 34)

– Tata Steel: 21 (down from 38)

 

This data has been revealed in a report by ‘Complykaro.’

 

The increase in complaints is attributed to greater awareness of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and the adoption of policies by companies that encourage victims to report such incidents.
