Pune: 1518 female students of Sarhad College in Katraj have set a record by planting 10 thousand 750 aloe vera plants in a single day. This record has been recorded in India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records.
1518 students planted more than 10 thousand 750 aloe vera plants in Sarhad College on the occasion of World Environmental Health Day. On this occasion, Sanjay Nahar, Founder President of Sarhad Sanstha, Secretary Sushma Nahar, Shailesh Wadekar, Trustee of Sarhad Sanstha, Anuj Nahar, former Principal Dr. Hanumantrao Jadwar, Principal in-charge of the college Dr. Sangeeta Shinde, Examiner Chitra Jain, Head of various departments of Sarhad Institute, Head of various departments of Sarhad College, Activity Coordinator Dr. Department of Botany. Varsha Nimbalkar, all professors, students, volunteer students were present.
Shailesh Wadekar said, this activity was taken to inculcate in the minds of the students that if sustainable development is to be achieved, one should adopt an environmentally friendly way of life. The activity was organized with the aim of creating awareness among the students in terms of environmental conservation and making them act rather than just talking and learning.
Anuj Nahar said, activities based on naturopathy are going on in Suru Valley in Kargil on behalf of Sarhad Sanstha. In order to support those activities and to understand the benefits of Aloe vera plant, the Aloe Plantation initiative has been important to create awareness among the people about naturopathy.
Dr. Sangeeta Shinde said, this activity has been implemented on behalf of the college for environment conservation. An aloe plant has been planted in a pot that complements the environment and the students will take this plant and plant it in their surrounding area, at home in the society.
