Australia: Heavy rains lashed the city and flooded the city and surrounding areas. Thousands of Sydney residents were called to evacuate on Sunday. Roads across the city were flooded.

“This is a life-threatening emergency,” New South Wales Emergency Services Minister Stephanie Cook told the media. Some roads are already under water. It is being appealed to avoid unnecessary travel with public transport as there is a risk of flash floods in some places.

The Vargamba dam filled earlier than expected on Sunday morning. More than a million homes, local shops and petrol pumps in Camden, a southwestern suburb of Sydney, have been flooded.
