When we say the #WomaNation, we speak about the exhilarating tales, the tales of Durga the Hindu Warrior Goddess who fought against the demonic forces threatening peace, we speak about the tales of Summaya- the first Islamic martyr who was sliced into two and as she died she said “la ilaha illallah” even her tongue had a backbone that the patriarchy couldn’t break.
Women- the ones with beauty, elegance, brains, grace, resilience and yes I can go on, but then still we are judged every day on the way we represent ourselves in terms of clothes, make-up, our work profile, our personal life profiles… and so on! Gods, the Blames women take & the Claims the society makes on them!
When we speak about women empowerment, we speak about making the country stronger, because as they say, “If you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman, you educate a nation.”
So, there it is INIFD Deccan, Pune- a Fashion & Interior Design Education Institute run by stronger, beautiful, elegant, creative, and intelligent women. Well, mind you these women are daughters, mothers, sisters, wives however they are also women who counsel, educate, nurture, market, and make 1000s of students careers every year.
Miss Huma Ali, the Centre Head of INIFD Deccan, quotes, “I am all proud to say that I lead my life as a mother, wife, daughter & a sister, and I also, lead it as a Mentor, Leader, Visionary, and an Educationalist.
Living all these amazing adjectives makes me Grateful.. As being a Woman, I strongly believe that the more you give, is the more you get. That’s what best describes the power of being a woman and living life like an empowered one keeps me going!”
Well-well, with this cliche yet the most alluring truthful line we would like to say that this piece is not to protest against men, or demean them in any ways. It is all about what womanism stands for! There are many questions raised on being a feminist and following the path of feminism, but feminism is nothing but, “the belief in social, economic, and political equality of the sexes.” This is what women demand as feminists, “EQUALITY.”
Feminism or Equality, to take independent decisions and to choose a career of her choice, equality to empower herself, equality to stand strong despite her caste, creed, body structure, and marital status.
Thus, the #WomeNation stand for the equal respect that women deserve, “kyunki aaj ki nariyan daya nai izzat kamane aayi hai.”
INIFD-Deccan celebrates Women’s Day by taking a small step towards empowering women by helping them choose a career that they’re passionate about. Every year we face questions whether our daughters will be able to cope-up with the glamour and stressful life of the design industry, will our daughters survive the design industry, etc etc.
We would like to say of course they will! So…..
Dear Parents,
Don’t underestimate or be overprotective towards your daughters just because she is a girl, it is time that you stand-up with her and give her all the freedom to explore, let her have her own journey and let her own her success. Make sure to stand strong besides them and help them become the next inspirations in the design industry just like Coco Channel, Zaha Hadid, Twinkle Khanna, Anita Dongre, and likewise. It is time to create a strong #WomeNation which is independent of all the societal norms that stereotype their talent.
