Pune – 30 March 22 : To commemorate 100 days countdown to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2022, National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN), Ministry of Ayush, Govt. Of India, in collaboration with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, conducted a yoga session on ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ at Aga Khan Palace, a renowned Gandhi Heritage site at Pune followed by a workshop cum discourse on Yoga for Immunity on the 83rd day to IDY 2022 in the premises of Aga Khan Palace on 30th March 2022 between 7 am to 11am.

Dr. Rajendra Yadav, Superintending Archeologist, Archeological Survey of India, Mumbai, Shri Gajanan Mandavre, Archeological Survey of India, Mumbai region, Shri J.V. Panpatil, Manager, Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India, Prof.(Dr.) K. Satya Lakshmi, Director, NIN were present on the occasion.

The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The programme started with the welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) K. Satya Lakshmi, Director, NIN. The cultural team of Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India performed an awareness programme on Yoga in the form of skit and songs, which was well appreciated by the public. Following this the practice of Common Yoga Protocol started under the instructions of naturopathy & yoga experts from NIN.

The workshop on Yoga for Immunity was scheduled , where yoga experts were invited to take the sessions. The workshop started with the introductory remarks from Dr. Ishavar Basavaraddi, Director, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga. The first session was a virtual session by Yog guru Shri Vishwas Mandalik, Yog Vidya Gurukul, Nashik who spoke on Yoga for Immunity. He explained how yogic practices can be effectively used to boost immunity. Second session was taken by Dr. Abhishek Devikar, Director, Nisargopachar Ashram, Urulikanchan on Principles of Yoga and Diet. He detailed the fundamental principles of Yoga and how diet plays a role in maintaining and strengthening immunity. He also stressed the harmful effects of packed foods and the importance of seasonal and local food. Third session was taken by Dr. Raj Kulkarni, Director, Dr. R. K Lifestyle Disorder and Pain Management Clinic, Pune on Yoga for Vibrant Health. He explained the need to incorporate yoga in daily life in order to stay vibrant and healthy. He detailed how simple practice of asanas, pranayama, shuddhi kriyas, meditation etc. plays a vital role in boosting immunity. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. D. Sathyanath, Senior Medical Officer, NIN.

The event received appreciation from the general public and the session were informative for them, close to 300 people participated in the programme.
