Kochi: A couple was caught joking while checking in at the Kochi International Airport. Actually, when the security personnel asked him at the check-in counter what was in his luggage? This husband said that there is a bomb. Hearing this, there was a stir among the security staff. This information was given to the police, after which they were arrested.
The 63-year-old man from Kerala and his wife had reached the airport in the early hours of Saturday. He was about to visit his daughter in Australia via Dubai. The couple had to go through several layers of checking at the airport. During this, when he was asked about his belongings, he quipped that there is a bomb in it.
Conversation captured in CCTV camera
An official of the Nedumbassery police said, “We received information from the airport that a man was talking about a bomb in his luggage. The conversation between the couple and the staff was also captured in the CCTV cameras installed at the terminal. It may be a joke but it is not acceptable at airports. The police officer said the man was arrested and later released on police bail. A case has been registered under Section 118B of the Kerala Police Act (willfully spreading rumors or giving false alarm to mislead the police, fire brigade or any other essential service).
