New Delhi, 1 February: Lieutenant General Manoj Pandey, PVSM, AVSM, VSM took over as Deputy Chief of Army Staff on 1 February 2022.

Lieutenant General Manoj Pandey, a former student of National Defense Academy, was appointed to the Core of Engineers (The Bombay Sappers) in December 1982. As General Officer, he led the Engineer Regiment during Operation Parakram in the sensitive Pallanwala area near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. He is a graduate of Staff College, Camberley (United Kingdom) and has studied Higher Command (HC) and National Defense College (NDC) courses.

In his 39-year career, he has served in a variety of important and challenging assignments, including the Strike Corps Engineer Brigade Command in the Western Theater, the Infantry Brigade near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, the Corps in the northeastern Mountain Division of West Ladakh, and the Commander-in-Chief. General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Nicobar Command (CINCAN) and Eastern Command as well as Chief of Staff of Southern Command.

For his outstanding service, he has been honored with the Distinguished Service Medal, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Distinguished Service Medal, as well as the Chief of Army Staff and the GOC-in-C for outstanding performance. Lieutenant General Manoj Pandey accepted the post of Deputy Chief of Army Staff from Lieutenant General CP Mohanty. Mohanty retired on 31 January 2022 after a distinguished career of four decades in the Army.
