Tree planting campaign in Ordnance Factory Talegaon on the occasion of Independence Ka Amrut Mahotsav

Pune: As part of country vide celebrations marking 75 years of independence, Ordnance Depot Talegaon under the aegis of Dakshin Maharashtra & Goa Sub Area has initiated a plantation drive in coordination with Social Forest Department, Vadgaon Maval. Indian Army has always been committed towards its environmental responsibilities and in keeping with our traditions, OD Talegaon organized this plantation drive starting from 1 Jul 2022. During this drive, 75,000 saplings marking 75 years of independence, of different varieties will be planted during the current monsoon season in an area of approx 283 acres thus adding to the existing green cover of the area. The drive witnessed the combatants, civil defence employees, families and children together driving home the message of “Green Earth, Clean Earth”.

This initiative will go a long way in inculcating awareness among the public about environment conservation. These trees are an investment for future generations that shall provide natural shade in open spaces, will increase green cover of the area along with reducing soil erosion, pollution and maintaining the environmental balance.

Commandant, Ordnance Depot Talegaon and Shri B A Pol, DFO, SFD Pune started the inaugural plantation which will continue for a period of next two months.
